Authorities end ice rescue on Sheboygan River after 'missing' subject walks up to command post

KIEL, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Late Sunday morning the Kiel Fire Department was sent to a report of someone who had fallen through ice on the Sheboygan River. Witnesses saw the person on the ice about four feet from open water and then saw that person disappear.

Ice and water rescue teams along with dive teams from surrounding communities responded.

The incident happened about a quarter mile upstream from a dam and authorities though the person might be carried down towards the dam and injured.

Divers and rescue crews were in the water for about 45 minutes before someone approached the command post. That person matched the description of the subject on the ice. They told authorities they walked off the ice and never fell into the water.
