Architect who designed Mitchell Park Domes dies at 99

HOUSTON (CBS 58) -- The architect who designed Milwaukee's Mitchell Park Domes has died. Donald Leon Grieb was 99 when he passed away on February 25, according to an obituary from the Houston Chronicle.

Grieb grew up in Milwaukee and started his architectural firm designing numerous buildings, schools, churches and homes in and around Milwaukee.

Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele released this statement on the death of Grieb:

“Through his architecture, Donald Grieb gave the city of Milwaukee authenticity, character, and an undeniable sense of pride. His contributions to our community helped create our sense of place, and it’s important that in his passing we remember and appreciate his work.”
