Man arrested for OWI after crash kills passenger near Hoyt and Leon

Milwaukee Police are investigating a fatal crash that happened around 1:25 AM Sunday morning.
The accident happened near W Hoyt Place and W Leon Terrace on Milwaukee’s north side.
According to the Milwaukee Police, a 33-year-old man was driving westbound when he drove off the roadway and struck a light pole.
The passenger in the car, 40-year-old Maria E. Mexicano, died at the scene according to the Police.
The driver, who was not injured, was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated.
The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office is scheduled to perform an autopsy today to determine a cause of death.
The MPD’s investigation of the accident is ongoing.
