Acting Sheriff Schmidt taking "cautious" approach to scooter citations

MILWAUKEE COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Days after Milwaukee Police issued their first citation to a Bird Scooter rider, the county's acting sheriff says his deputies are being cautious when it comes to ticketing riders. 

"We're going to be very cautious about taking an advanced step, if you will, as far as writing citations. If someone is doing something inappropriate or wrong, we're going to address it, but we're going to be cautious until the judicial system decides what the right thing to do here is," said acting Sheriff Schmidt. 

The motorized scooters are illegal to use in Milwaukee.
