400 passenger cruise ship docking in Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Port Milwaukee will welcome the Hamburg on Sunday morning, a 400 passenger cruise ship that is touring the Great Lakes.

Ships carrying cargo make hundreds of stops at the port each year, but the docking of such a large cruise ship is an unusual event at Port Milwaukee. The last time the Hamburg called on Milwaukee was 2015.

Milwaukee is the first stop for this cruise in the United States, so U.S. Customs officials will formally review each passenger’s documents before they can begin their land tours.

The passengers on board the Hamburg are mostly European. They will have an opportunity to visit various sites in Milwaukee including the Harley Davidson Museum during its one-day stop here.

During its current two-week long North American cruise, the Hamburg is making port calls at other Great Lakes communities.
