3-Legged Bunny Needs Home

Checkers arrived at the Wisconsin Humane Society Racine Campus with multiple fractures of her left tibia. The fractures were severe and unfortunately could not be repaired, but as they see with many dogs and cats, WHS staff knew that Checkers could live a happy life on 3 legs. WHS veterinary staff performed an amputation of her left rear leg and the surgery and recovery was very successful.

Checkers is now thriving, hopping around on her 3 legs with ease – and without any pain. She’s a 5-year-old Rex rabbit and is one of the sweetest, softest bunnies you’ll meet. She may need to take it easy for a few days as she adjusts to having more space to explore, but Checkers now looks forward to a happy life ahead.  If you are interested in adopting Checkers, learn more about her here: http://wihumane.org/adopt/animal?id=29976098
