12-year-old recovering at Milwaukee-area hospital after being shot by 14-year-old

The Waupaca County Sheriff's Office is currently investigating after a 12-year-old boy was shot by his 14-year-old cousin.

The shooting happened shortly after 7 p.m. on Thursday evening in the Township of Bear Creek which is near New London.

 Bear Creek first responders, as well as deputies, provided first aid to the victim until Clintonville Ambulance arrived.

The victim was transported by ambulance to ThedaCare New London, and then flown by Thada Star to Theda Clark in Neenah where he was again stabilized, and flown to Milwaukee Children’s Hospital.

The shooting is believed to be accidental. The 12-year-old was shot in the shoulder.

The victim is currently in stable condition.

The Waupaca County Sheriff's Office released a statement saying, "Our hearts go out to everyone involved in this tragic situation."

The investigation remains ongoing at this time.
