New homeless shelter opening on Milwaukee's east side offers valuable resources
Maskani Place offers 37 units of two to four bedroom spaces
MILWAUKEE -- A new shelter opening in Milwaukee hopes to help the city's homeless population by providing a place to sleep among other valuable resources.
Maskani Place will open to the public Tuesday, offering 37 units of two to four bedroom spaces.
The project cost about $10 million and is geared towards homeless Milwaukee families or ones at risk of becoming homeless. .
In addition to providing a place to sleep, the facility will offer assistance with job training, child care and financial literacy.
Mayor Tom Barrett and Alderwoman Milele Coggs will attend the grand opening, happening at 320 E, Center at 11 a.m.
