Mayor to go door-to-door to address Milwaukee's co-sleeping deaths

by Dustin Vrab

MILWAUKEE -- Thousands of kids across the country are dying due to co-sleeping incidents and it's happening here in Milwaukee far too often.

Today, city officials are stepping up and taking action.

Milwaukee has seen nearly a dozen co-sleeping deaths in less than a 24 month period, despite a city-wide appeal to parents to supply an individual place for babies to sleep.

Milwaukee's latest case was a new born baby just last week.

In respone, Mayor Barrett went go door-to-door with the Milwaukee Fire Department to let people know co-sleeping deaths are preventable and help is available.

CBS 58's Lila Carrera reports.
