State Assembly passes bill to increase speed limit

MADISON -- A bill that would raise the posted limit to 70 miles-an-hour on all of Wisconsin's four-lane highways was approved by the assembly’s transportation committee Tuesday. The vote is expected to head before the full assembly sometime next week, The new bill appears to have bipartisan support. The new speed limit would apply on nearly 800 miles of road, The bill's sponsor Republican State Representative Paul Tittle of Manitowoc says new research shows going faster could actually make the roads safer.
