WEST ALLIS -- Congratulations to the young authors at Longfellow Elementary School in West Allis.

They just won a national writing award for a book that they conceived, wrote and illustrated.

It's a picture book called "What does the X-ray say". The book won a grand prize for the Scholastic book fairs' program called "Kids are Authors".

Yesterday, the junior writers got their medals.
