Sardines and lettuce for breakfast?
MILWAUKEE -- Dog behavior can be influenced by the dog's diet.
Dr. Claudeen McAuliffe stopped by the CBS 58 Morning show Friday and said that the two things dogs are lacking the most are omega-3 fatty acids and water.
The lack of water, Dr. McAuliffe says, can be because dry food makes dogs very thirsty and that can make them irritable. She reccomends soaking the dry food in boiling water to make it easier to digest and give them more water.
Dr. McAuliffe also says a good way to get more omega-3 fatty acids in your dogs diet is to blend sardines and lettuce and feed it to them. She says more omega-3's will make them less anxious.
Dr. McAuliffe works for Humane Animal Welfare Society (HAWS) in Waukesha County. They are having a Winter Symposium that will answer questions like diet and behiavior problems. It is on Saturday, December 1 from 9 to 5 p.m. at HAWS, 701 Northview Road Waukesha. All the procedes will benefit HAWS.
