Repairs to wings on Calatrava start Tuesday

MILWAUKEE -- It's a piece of architecture that's become a symbol of Milwaukee -- The Calatrava, more specifically the Brise Soleil. Today repairs begin on the wings.

The soleil wings have a faulty hydraulic cylinder within the mechanism that was found in July.

Today a crane will hoist the five foot, 12-hundred pound cylinder out of its place and remove it for repairs. It's one of 22 cylinders.

It's the first time in the last decade that any of the hundreds of parts that operate the soileil has had to be replaced. The museum expects the wings to remain closed through Labor Day while the cylinder is repaired.
