Braun wins 2nd Silver Slugger; Escobar named Topps AAA All-Star
A pair of Brewers took home awards Thursday.
MILWAUKEE - For Ryan Braun and Alcides Escobar, the end of the season has not meant the end of their accolades.
Braun picked up the Louisville Slugger Silver Slugger Award for the second time in his career. The Silver Slugger Awards are given to the top hitters at each position in the American and National Leagues.
Braun topped several key statistical marks in 2009, notching more than 200 hits, 30 homers, 110 RBI, and 20 stolen bases.
The Silver Slugger Award for NL first basemen went to Albert Pujols of the Cardinals, shutting Prince Fielder out of the Silver Slugger list.
Alcides Escobar was named a Topps AAA All-Star Thursday. Escobar stole 42 bases and provided strong defense for the Brewers' AAA affiliate in Nashville. He's expected to take over as the Brewers' starting shortstop for the 2010 season.
