Marathon budget meeting
job cuts still appear likely
MILWAUKEE--A lot is on the line today as the Milwaukee county board meets to decide 2010 budget.
A wheel tax, privatization plans, pays and job cuts are among just some of the major changes that the county could see.
The meeting began at 8:30 this morning and debate was still going on as the dinner hour approached.
Parks employees had some supervisors making their case to keep their jobs.
"If we cut these park workers," Supervisor Lynn De Bruin said, " there's not gonna be some other company that comes in to do those services."
In the end the board voted to restore 20 or the 39 workers facing job cuts.
