Wisconsin Legislature faces decisions on pending issues
Legislature will be covering major issues with pressing deadlines this week.
With the end of their session approaching, Legislature will be meeting this week to discuss some important and pending issues.
Lawmakers are still figuring out how to pay for a drunken driving bill. While a Senate committee has passed a version that increases liquor taxes to pay for the harsher penalties for drunken driving, a compromise between lawmakers is still in the making.
Other issues Legislature will face are reforming the state's child welfare system and publicly funding the Supreme Court campaigns.
Passing education reforms to help Wisconsin qualify for federal stimulus money and making more strict state drunken driving laws is also expected to be covered before Legislature wraps things up for the end of the year by Thursday.
