MILWAUKEE -- About 45 people are still living in a temporary Red Cross shelter at Glen Hills Middle School because their homes are uninhabitable due to flood damage.
Nicole Howard says she has shed some tears about the crisis, which destroyed all her kids' baby pictures, most of their clothes and shoes, plus furniture, appliances and food.
She says sewer waters filled her basement to the ceiling and covered the main level of the home about a foot high.
She's hoping she can get a new washer and dryer and deep freezer with help from FEMA.
But her biggest worry is whether her kids will be able to stay in the Glendale School district.
Nicole says she moved to her home on North 27th Street near Villard specifically so her five kids, ages 12 to 17, could attend Glen Hills Middle School and Nicolet High School.
The children have been thriving -- on the honor roll, on debate team, on the football team.
But the home they were renting is severely damaged and will take months to repair, so the landlord says they must leave.
Nicole and her husband Willy have been unable to find another four-bedroom house to rent for less than $1600 per month in Glendale.
As CBS 58's Diane Moca reports, she's now taking life one day at a time.
