Local hispanic leader urging Selig to move 2011 All-Star game out of Arizona, due to the state's controversial immigration law
MILWAUKEE - Local hispanic leaders protested outside the Milwaukee office of baseball commissioner Bud Selig Tuesday, demanding that the All-Star game be taken out of Arizona.
It's the latest fallout after Arizona passed a law that would allow police officers to check the immigration status of people detained for other violations.
Selig's office offered no comment when CBS 58 requested it. The demonstrators are demanding the commissioner to take the 2011 All-Star game somewhere else.
"Bud Selig must stand with his players their families and fans and help douse the flames of hatred that threaten to spread in this country, if Arizona's law is not repealed," said Christine Neumann-Ortiz of Voces de La Frontera.
Brewers pitcher Yovani Gallardo sayd he was misquoted by the protest organizers when they said he would boycott the game. He said he would "consider" boycotting and that he doesn't agree with the Arizona law.
