Accused of paying student to take nude photos of him
RACINE-- An award-winning math teacher was in court Monday, facing charges of child enticement and possession of child pornography.
Joseph Clazmer is accused of paying a 16-year-old student to allow him to take naked pictures of him, and kiss and touch his body.
Clazmer came to know the boy while teaching geometry at Walden High School in Racine. The boy told police that he and his friends would routinely go to Clazmer's home and drink alcohol and smoke marijuana.
The criminal complaint says Clazmer admitted to taking naked pictures of the student that police later fond on his computer, and giving the teen cash in exchange for them.
The boy claimed that Clazmer would send him coded text messages, like "TT$, TT$" - which meant "touch time for cash."
During a court hearing Monday, a judge set Clazmer's bail at $75,000 and ordered him not to have contact with anyone under the age of 18.
Clazmer won 3rd place in the Journal Times "Best Teacher" category in 2005 and was nominated that same year for Racine County's "Citizen with the Biggest Heart."
The Racine Unified School District says they are conducting their own investigation and are taking steps to prevent Clazmer from having contact with staff or students.
