FOND DU LAC -- The Fond du Lac Police Department has now reported that they have taken a 46-year-old man into custody for the alleged arson of the Last Stop Bar and Lanes.
Police took the alleged suspect into custody late Thursday evening after speaking with investigators at the Police Department.
"My whole world came down," says Lyle Huss, owner of the Last Stop Bar and Lanes, on Division St. "It was my childhood dream," he said.
Huss bought the landmark bowling alley two years ago. It operated as West Side Lanes for more than 80 years.
The Fond du Lac Fire Department responded around 4:00 Wednesday morning to reports of smoke in the area.
They arrived to find that flames had completely engulfed the interior of the building. Nearby homes were evacuated and no injuries were reported.
According to a press release which was released early this morning, Fond du lac Police Chief Barthuly said, "Our department's heart goes out to all those who lost a visible memory of their past." The City of Fond du Lac Community Development and Inspection units are working to have the building remains removed and site cleared as soon as possible.

The investigation of the fire is currently ongoing. The preliminary investigative report will be delivered to Fond du Lac County District Attorney Dan Kaminsky as soon as it is completed.
