Back behind bars
Daniel Acker was in Florida, instead of Milwaukee courtroom
He's already a convicted child molestor, just waiting to find out how many years he will spend in prison. So what was former West Allis swim coach Daniel Acker doing in Florida last week when he was supposed to be in court?
Daniel Acker says he was just relaxing during his vacation to Florida, but a local judge wasn't easily convinced.
Acker was in court Monday explaining his whereabouts to Circuit Judge Kevin Martens. Acker missed a bail hearing last week when he says was on his retreat. He's now back in jail.
According to his attorney, Acker was allowed to leave the state, but after not notifying his parole officer that he moved to Madison to live with his sister, the judge raised his bail.
The 62-year-old was charged back in April on multiple felony counts including sexual assault of a child, pleading no contest to the charges. On Monday, Acker tried to convince the judge he did nothing wrong.
Acker's sentencing is scheduled for January.
