Shooting and armed robbery at sub shop
An armed robbery and shooting occurred at the Chicago Subs on 2735 W. Burleigh at about 2:00 this morning.
Jacklin Tenard lives across the street from the sub shop and she heard something going on. "I just heard somebody say, oh help," said Tenard. The suspect walked into the restaurant wearing a mask, black hooded sweatshirt, and black pants while several customers were waiting for food. "He had a gun, he robbed a few people, and when he's going out boys were standing by the corner, I don't know what happened but they say to each other and he shoots him," said the owner of Chicago Subs. The suspect ran out the door, but before fleeing, he pointed a gun in the victim's face and shot him in the leg. "I opened the door and looked out and next thing I know there are about 20 or 30 cops out here," said Tenard. Area residents say there is a lot of crime in this neighborhood. "During the night time there's just a lot of people that are standing out here for no reason, not doing what they're supposed to be doing and making the area bad," said Auhtrau Fortune. Police say the victim is recovering at a local hospital. The suspect is described as a black male, 6'0 to 6'2" tall, slim build, and medium complexion. |
