BROOKFIELD -- A group of students at Brookfield Central High School is learning how to manage their money before they head off to college and have to do it on their own.
Spring Bank is sponsoring the EverFi on line financial literacy training tool in two classes at the high school.
Students use avatars to work their way through different lessons about credit cards, student loans, and other money saving tips.
"It is very user friendly," said teacher Dan Wandrey, "all of our kids are tech savvy to begin with."
Junior Nora Stutt says the program has already inspired her to open a bank account and put the money she earns at work in it.
"It has shown me stuff I didn't know about and made me more money conscience and actually knowing what I'm doing with my money," said Nora.
This is the second year that Spring Bank has sponsored EverFi in Brookfield Central and president Dave Shuelke says he'd like to expand it into other schools.
"This was a natural partner for us," said Shuelke, "an opportunity for us to promote financial education and give back to our local community."
Brookfield Central was the first school in the area to use the EverFi program.
