Mitchell Park Domes

by Michele McCormack

MILWAUKEE -- One acre under glass featuring a desert oasis, a tropical jungle and special floral gardens.

The incredible diversity of plant life you will encounter reminds us all of the Earth's unique diversity of plant and animal species so very vital to our own survival.

Built in 1968 to replace an aging greenhouse that has stood in the 500 block of South Layton, Boulevard, the Domes are often associated with school field trips.

But over the years, a series of special events and upgraded lighting system have brought about a whole new appeal at night.
