MILWAUKEE-Don't let the certified financial planner title fool you. Maureen McCabe is a Fine Arts grad from UW Milwaukee who's competitive when it comes to raising money for the annual UPAF Ride for the Arts.

Since 2005, McCabe has raised $30,000. That makes her the top individual fundraiser.

"I did my first ride in 2004. That's where I met my husband," McCabe tells CBS 58 News, "and I was shocked that he was not getting any pledges. I said I'm gong to ride for 50 miles and not get any money? You're crazy."

Thanks to determined riders like McCabe UPAF Ride for the Arts has brought in some $8 million dollars over the years.

The money supporters more than 30 arts programs locally, including education programs that reach 400,000 children each year.

All routes begin at the South Gate of the Summerfest Grounds Due to the extensive planning of this event, the UPAF Ride for the Arts, sponsored by Miller Lite, will not be rescheduled due to inclement weather.

Registration on the day of the Ride begins at 6 a.m.

Start times will be distinguished by the color of your rider number on your bib. Bike trailers will be allowed on all bike routes.

All routes start at Summerfest. Each route is led by an official pace car.

They range from 5 to 75 miles.


The UPAF Campaign Finale will take place at the Finish Line Party.

Once again, the Finish Line Party will be located at the Briggs & Stratton Big Backyard Stage on the Grounds.

Join us after the Ride for live entertainment including performances by local Milwaukee musicians and Member and Affiliate Groups of the United Performing Arts Fund.

In addition, stop at the Children's Area and take part in an assortment of activities provided by Ride sponsors.

Activities include an instrument petting zoo, jugglers, clowns, jesters and face painters.
