MILWAUKEE-When you're writing a letter to a hero, you know it has to be heartfelt.

Students at Saint Thomas More High School are pouring their hearts into letters that will be sent to military service members who won't be home for the holidays, their families and veterans from past conflicts.

"This greatest generation to ever live is starting to die off," Social Services Dept. Chair Nicholas Kelly told CBS 58 News, "and to show them our appreciation now is very important. So, that students learn that generations before them have put forth so much to give them freedoms that they want."

Members of the public can also write their own letters by stopping by the school between 11:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. during the week.

The school is located at 2601 E. Morgan Avenue in Milwaukee.
