International Natural Hair Meetup Day
by Cindy McManus

The International Natural Hair Meetup Day is an annual one-day event which will be held this year on May 18, 2013.

On this date, women in 60 cities across the United States and in Europe will meet in their respective cities to connect with people who wear their hair free of chemical relaxers and to celebrate the beauty and versatility of natural hair.

The organizer of this event, Adeea Rogers, a YouTube vlogger, says that its purpose is to allow the opportunity for women across the United States and beyond to meet in their own communities while connecting with, sharing and meeting (virtually) other women across the country participating in other meetups on the same day.

Natural hair meetups are events designed to share information, techniques, inspiration and products to aid individuals in their natural hair journey.

This year’s TITLE SPONSOR is Natural Girls Rock. Natural Girls Rock® is a registered trademarked Movement created to promote women wearing their hair in its natural state with unwavering confidence!
Natural Girls Rock owner, Kelly J, says, “Natural Girls Rock is very proud to be an integral part of this wonderful event! The sisterhood that was created last year during the inaugural event was phenomenal and heartfelt by many. There were product swaps, journeys shared, live big chops, and even tears shed as woman came together across the nation under one common bond and one outstanding idea. We look forward to participating in this endeavor for years to come."

Other sponsors include Karen’s Body Beautiful, Curls, Sisters with Beauty, Sof’ N Free Nothing But, Shea Moisture, Isbaella’s Own and about 20 others.

During and as a result of International Natural Hair Meetup Day, attendees will be able to:

• Meet other naturals in their area
• Gain exposure to natural hair product lines and companies
• Learn the process of planning and executing a natural hair meetup (event hosts)
• Meet natural hair and beauty bloggers and YouTube vloggers
• Network with other natural hair meetup organizers (event hosts)
• Discover resources, techniques, products and people that can serve as inspiration and information for the natural hair care journey

Rogers says, “International Natural Hair Meetup Day will be an opportunity to celebrate the beauty and versatility of natural hair.”
