Have you ever been stuck with a bad lease? Do you know your rights as a tenant? How much rent can you afford to pay? Come to The Smart Tenant Workshop to get answers! The FREE workshop is open to the public and is being held Tuesday, March 5 from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm in the St John Neumann Church hall. 2400 W. State HWY 59 Waukesha, WI 53189. The Smart Tenant Workshop is provided by Community Action Coalition for South Central WI and hosted by St Vincent dePaul-St John Neumann conference. This workshop is designed for people who have never rented or have had difficulty in the past from lack of knowledge, lack of experience, or their inability to find an apartment they can afford. The workshop applies practical education to help people find and keep good, affordable housing. The workshop provides information to help people avoid legal confrontations and stresses both parties' responsibilities. It shows the advantages gained in building a business partnership with your landlord. Topics covered are: Discrimination in renting, Looking for an apartment, Rental agreements, Renters insurance, Security deposits, Landlord entry, Repairs, Eviction process, Giving notice to move, Small Claims Court, Mediation, Community resources, The Law-Statutes and ATCP Code.
