Event Description

KENOSHA, WI – The Kenosha Public Museum and Gateway Technical College are holding an EcoFair from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. Saturday, October 20 at the Kenosha Public Museum. Learn to live more sustainably, reduce your carbon footprint and save valuable natural resources. Find out about alternative energy for your home, more fuel-efficient cars, “green” building supplies, urban farming, recycling, composting and rain gardens.

Eco-friendly automobiles will be on display in front of the museum. Check out cars from Frank Boucher Volkswagen, Audi and Toyota Carmax, Lynch Chevrolet, and Palmen Buick/GMC/Cadillac.

Inside the museum, visit with local organizations including the Eco-Justice Center, UW-Extension Master Gardeners, Carthage College Environmental Science Program, CURE, City of Kenosha Water Utility and Eco-Fresh Habitats.

At 1 p.m. Root-Pike Watershed Initiative Network will present, “Greener Yards, Cleaner Waters,” explaining how to reduce runoff pollution from rain and snow-ice melt in your yard.

The first twenty-five families to attend the fair will receive a reusable “The Lorax” tote bag, and all attendees can register to win a copy of “The Lorax” DVD.

While at the museum, remember to visit the interactive exhibit, “Sustainable Shelter: Dwelling Within the Forces of Nature,” in the second floor West Gallery.

The EcoFair, presentation and exhibit are free and open to the public.
