Top NBA Rookies So Far

The NBA is an eighth of the way complete, so I thought it might be time to evaluate this impressive class of rookies.

Some experts were comparing the class of 2012 with the 1984, 1996 and 2003 draft classes.  It remains to be seen and no matter how many people are predicting great things for these young players, only time will tell.

Here's my early list of the top rookies in the league so far.

1.  Damian Lillard  Portland  10 10  37.5 19.0 3.2 6.1  He's averaging an insane 37.5 min/gm which will come down, along with the rest of his numbers, as the season goes on.
2.  Michael Kidd-Gilchrist  Charlotte  9 9  27.3 11.7 7.2 1.7 Starting and playing big minutes for a bad Bobcats team.
3.  Anthony Davis  New Orleans  6 6  28.3 16.0 8.3 0.8  Injuries have derailed a promising start.  If he could stay on the floor, he'd be No. 1 on this list.
4.  Harrison Barnes  Golden State  11 11  28.1 11.5 4.7 1.3  Barnes will get better as the season progresses.  Looks very comfortable with the faster speed of the NBA compared to college.
5.  Dion Waiters  Cleveland  10 10  29.2 13.7 2.2 2.0  Some experts thought the Cavs reached with Waiters at No. 4 overall, but he's proving he can play well at the NBA level.
6.  Bradley Beals  Washington  9  7  27.1 11.7 2.8 1.6  No John Wall, no Nene and no wins for the Wizards.  Beals is the saving grace on a struggling team.
7.  Kyle Singler  Detroit  12 4  24.1  9.1  2.8  0.5  Just started the last 4 games, but as more of the 2 position.  Spending last year in Spain has Singler looking like a pro already.
8.  Alexey Shved  Minnesota  10 0  22.9 10.2  3.0 4.1  A combo guard that's doing a bit of everything for an injury riddled team.
9.  Austin Rivers  New Orleans  8 8  29.5 7.6 1.8 2.9  Rivers is still adjusting to the size and speed of NBA players.  He'll get better when his shot gets more consistent.

Milwaukee Bucks' rookie John Henson just had a monster game against the Miami Heat with a 17 point 18 rebound night.  Here's his stat line so far.

John                   Henson Milwaukee  5  0  14.6  7.6  5.2  0.2 Started the season late due to injury and really looked lost early on.  He looks to be getting more comfortable as he gets more minutes on the floor.
