The Bucks options in the 2013 draft

by Andrew Coughlin

The Bucks will have plenty of guards to pick from when they select at No.15, but they could trade down and still get good value.

I'm not a huge fan of this years draft and although we will not know how good this draft is until years down the road, we can still speculate on some of the players that the Bucks will have a chance to take when the No. 15 pick rolls around.

GM John Hammond has always said they draft on best available player and never on need at a certain position, but I'm going to go out on a limb here and say there is a strong chance he takes a guard in the upcoming draft.

I believe Hammond scored big when he took John Henson at No. 15 in the 2012 draft.  If Henson would have stayed another year at UNC, he very well could have been a top five pick this year.  And we know what Larry Sanders can do; having a breakout year in 2012/13.  The big guys for the future are set.  They back-court of the immediate future is a mystery.

The mid-to-late first round of this draft has a good amount of two-guards with NBA size.  Maybe someone that could be ready to play now, that will not necessarily be a star, but will be a solid contributor.

I can see the Bucks staying where they are at No. 15 and drafting the best available player regardless of position or trading back in the draft and taking one of the many shooting guards in this class.

I'd like to see them take one of the bigger shooting guards like Tim Hardaway Jr., Allen Crabbe or Glen Rice Jr.  If Shabazz Muhammad or Cody Zeller happen to fall, either of them would be a good choice as well.

Here are some possible options for the Bucks in the draft:

Point Guards

C.J. McCollum, 6'3" - Lehigh

Shane Larkin, 6'0" - Miami

Dennis Schroeder, 6'2" - Germany

Michael Carter - Williams, 6'6" - Syracuse

Isaiah Canaan, 6'0" - Murray State

Shooting Guards

Kentavious Caldwell - Pope, 6'6" - Georgia

Sergey Karasev, 6'6" - Russia

Jamaal Franklin, 6'6" - San Diego St.

Tim Hardaway Jr., 6'6" - Michigan

Allen Crabbe, 6'6" - California

Reggie Bullock, 6'7" - UNC

Glen Rice Jr., 6'6" - Rio Grande Valley Vipers, NBA D-League

Ricky Ledo, 6'6" - Providence (DNP academically ineligible)

Shabazz Muhammad, 6'7" - UCLA

Lucas Nogueira, 6'11" - Brazil

Mason Plumlee, 7'0" - Duke

Cody Zeller, 7'1" - Indiana

Steven Adams, 7'0" - Pittsburgh

Kelly Olynyk, 7'0" - Gonzaga

Gorgui Dieng, 6'11" - Louisville
