Our week at the RNC

John Cuoco and I are currently in Tampa covering the RNC. Hopefully you've had a chance to catch some of our reports. We are trying to bring you unique content you won't see anywhere else... beyond the speeches at the podium. We've had great access to our delegates, and we thank them for that.
The security here is unlike anything I've ever seen in my years covering politics or presidential visits. To give you an idea... the media or anyone for that matter who isn't a VIP has to walk nearly a mile in a circle (technically a square) around several buildings just to get in. Now mind you it's 90 degrees plus humidity. Many people have commented that the set up seems a bit weird. That said, it's there to keep people safe and we appreciate the hard work of all the law enforcement here.
The political heavyweights are all here. So far, John and I have ran into Herman Cain, shared an elevator with Speaker John Boehner, and interviewed former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.
Today, Tom Brokaw moseyed through the CBS newsroom (maybe he was lost, or took the shortcut to NBC) as Cuoco said it was like Elvis had entered the building... several reporters jumped up and took pictures with the always gracious Brokaw.
I got a chance to sit down with Charlie Rose from CBS This Morning. What a great guy... and a fantastic interviewer... but he's also a great interviewee. When I asked a question he answered it spot on, then looked at me like "come on kid... I'm ready for the next question... don't let your interview wait."
We are headed from here north to Charlotte, N.C. where the presidents party will nominate him to run for another four year term. That convention is shaping up to be just as much of a show as this one... stay tuned.
