NBA Lockout - Should I care?
Should I care? Because I just don't. Has the NBA become so phony and choreographed that the excitement of sport is totally gone? Is this the WWE on a court?
Ok the NBA has locked out the players while they both squabble over who gets more money, the owners or the players. This week after talks broke down they officially canceled the first two weeks of the season.
Should I care? Because I just don't. If there was no NBA season I don't think I would miss it. Don't get me wrong I am a huge sports fan and when the NFL season was in jeopardy I was getting very worried. Sundays without football what would I do with myself, this could have a huge impact on some of my life long traditions and with the Packers coming off a Super Bowl victory it would be devastating.
Now we have the Brewers, with one of the most exciting seasons ever, and a Postseason run to boot. The Badgers ranked in the top 5, It is a sports fanatics dream.
So I should be excited for the NBA to start and see what the Bucks can do. Right? But I am just not. I don't know if it is because I have been on such a sports high over the past year and the Bucks will do nothing but disappoint, or if it is because the NBA feels so phony and choreographed that the excitement of sport is totally gone for me.
The past couple of NBA seasons have felt a lot like WWE Wrestling and a lot less like a sport. All kinds of crazy characters. The good guys and the bad guys. The whole game seems choreographed up till the last couple minutes. It feels a lot more like entertainment and a lot less like sport.
I can't wait for college basketball to start and I know none of our teams are going to win the NCAA, but the drive and excitement are always there. The NBA just has been flat for me. Maybe if I lived in Dallas, Miami, LA, or Boston things would be different but I am not sure. Is it just me our city or the sport as a whole? Let me know what you think.
Here is the Taiwanese animation version of the NBA lockout. Enjoy.
